Time to (Indi)go!

I've been having a really hard time with Hal Jordan's in-progress Indigo Lantern mode. My friend and fellow sprite artist ArmageddoN shared with me a pretty cool base stance to work from (note sure what game it was, but the guy had a hawk's head and weird ghostly legs, so it's taking a bit of frankenspriting to make it work:

Indigo Lantern Hal Jordan squares off against Orange Lantern Lex Luthor

Beyond that, I've tried several times to come up with a palette I'm 100% pleased with, and I'm still not quite there. Here are a few of the options I'm kicking around:

several possible palette concepts for Hal Jordan's Indigo Lantern custom mode

(the one on the far right is, I think, the closest I've come to what I want)

So, work continues. Even once I get the custom stances for all 6 alternate modes done, there are the intros and winposes to consider. The coding isn't too bad, because most of the alternate moves are either variations on existing ones, or I've already prototyped them with Parasite. But it'll be interesting to see where this all falls — I wanted to have him done before Christmas, but things have been busy in the family lately, so we'll just have to see how much time I actually manage. Regardless, Hal's progressing, and I can't wait to see how it all plays out.

Wow that's a really hard choice all 5 look nice. Personally I wouldn't go with the all brown one there's no indigo on him so he doesn't seem like "Indigo lantern". Personally I like the full pants look anyway so I'd go 1, 3 or 5

Excellent work!!!
I u manage to finish him will u release him on Christmas???

Personally I think the first one is the best. Though it's a little odd with him being shirtless. It could still be implemented well I guess. Else the last one is good. It just looks odd to have all that brown then the purple pants. It seems to clash.
Or how about doing that last one, but instead of all that brown on the torso, you make it purple?
Whatever you choose, it should have some purple in it, else there isn't much reason for it to be INDIGO lantern.
Great work as usual!

I know what you guys mean about having so much brown, but if you look at the comics featuring the Indigo tribe, they wore a lot of yellowish-brown and not much actual indigo.

Hah, that's pretty funny.. It was suggested at one point for me to use that as a base for Kyle Rayner...

Hmm, the 1st one seems to be the most "Tribal Hal variant"..

As always my friend, if you'd like, you can always look at my code, in the Atom, and take what you'd like..

-Ever your fan,

Thanks, Ecks. I agree that it would make a decent base for a GL, and Kyle REALLY ought to be brought into MUGEN, since the other three Earth GLs all have representation. <_<

They all look great , for me , it's just that the head looks a bit odd...but that's probably just me! keep up the great work!

The Last one (to the right) is nice. Maybe the 2nd one from the left could be very interesting too.. However the base you mentioned is "Magician's Red", Mohammed Abdul' stand, from the game "JoJo's Bizzare Adventures"

The stand is the materialization of a character's fighting spirit, and its name (stand) is so because the spirit battle always along the owner..

This is an awesome work man, keep it on!

Ah, it figures that base is from Jojo... the style totally fits that game. Thanks for the info. :)

Something I don't really understand...why does the Indigo palette have so much Brown?

@Switchback: other than Indigo-1 (and Ray Palmer, but he was only deputized), the Indigo Lanterns seem to lean heavily on the brown/tan color scheme: http://fanboyz.net/2009/07/17/indigo-tribe-indigo-lanterns/
